Idebenone has successfully replaced CoQ10 in cellular energy production trials

It's not difficult to understand why South Beach's LifeCell skincare cream is creating such a stir in the beauty products industry. The over-45 population in the western world is clamouring for anti-wrinkle and anti-aging products, and there are lots of companies vying for the baby-boomer dollar.

The majority of the huge multi-national 'machines' who have controlled the skincare industry from its inception are filling their products with token amounts of useful ingredients and spending the bulk of their money on packaging and advertising. And this works for them! By promising incredible results they get their sales, and repeat business isn't their lifeblood. If their advertised product starts to fail, they simply rebrand and remarket it and they once again achieve their sales targets.

There have been some significant advances in the development of ingredients for anti-aging skincare products. Antioxidants have widely known benefits, many of which have been highlighted in this series, but there is one, Idebenone, that although is relatively new to skincare products like LifeCell, has been around for decades.

Back in the 1970s and 1980s scientists were studying the therapeutic potential of Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10), including its use in preventing heart failure, reducing free radical damage, and in slowing some neurological conditions. It was found that CoQ10, a natural vitamin-like compound found in aerobic organism, was a powerful antioxidant and played a vital role in cellular energy production.

They tried to boost CoQ10's therapeutic benefits by synthesizing its components, but most were found to be ineffective or unsafe. Except Idebenone.

Being structurally similar to CoQ10, Idebenone has successfully replaced CoQ10 in cellular energy production trials, and it too is a powerful antioxidant. Idebenone was found to have added benefits however. Firstly it is more water-soluble and its antioxidant profile is believed to be superior to CoQ10 in neutralizing many types of the free radicals that damage collagen.

Idebenone goes directly to our cell's "power plants" the microchondria - this is where 90% of our energy is stored. As we age, the microchondira slows down, but with the help of Idebenone the cellular energy increases replenishing old and tired skin. It boosts our ability to produce elastin and collagen, in turn reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles.

European scientists, conducting double-blind placebo tests on Idebenone's effect on lines and wrinkles, were absolutely astounded with the results - especially with the most stubborn wrinkles - crow's feet. They said "wrinkles around the region of the eyes ("crow's feet") could be reduced significantly by the long-term application [of idebenone]".

Idebenone however is quite an expensive product and this has prevented many of the big-name companies making room in their 'budgets' for its inclusion in their anti-wrinkle creams. With its LifeCell cream, South Beach Skincare have not skimped on the ingredients they have used to come up with the ultimate anti-wrinkle anti-aging cream.

Even more reassuring though is that they are backing this product with a money back guarantee. How many of the big name companies do that?
